Charlotte King is most proud to have a professional “brand” that combines public service, communications, and sustainability. Today, she is a Senior Advisor for Global Sustainability Chemical Nylon and Polymers for INVISTA after completing her Masters of Sustainable Energy & Environmental Management at Georgia Tech’s School of Public Policy. Her graduate capstone was “The Impact of COVID19 on (Global) Aviation Carbon Emissions; she is a Peer-reviewed Co-author “The persistence of high energy burdens: A bibliometric analysis of vulnerability, poverty, and exclusion in the United States,”; UN Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE Atlanta Leadership Circle) on Education for Sustainable Development.
She asserts, “The urgency of climate change requires analytics combined with science, public policy combined with community engagement, and domestic priorities combined with international sustainability goals – it’s my passion as a Sustainability Practitioner”.
Armed with a unique 20+ years in marketing communications as a writer/producer and creative director for Fortune 500’s including AT&T, Shell Oil, Alcoa Aluminum, Brown Shoe Company, Payless Shoes, Edward Jones and many others -- she has designed and delivered B2B new product launches, skills training, customer service, and unique internal launches like “Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom” program for a Seven-Up, bag-in-box promotion. She then launched Snowden & King Marketing Communications and had projects with McDonalds, Coca-Cola, Stein & Company Developers, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, and numerous nonprofits.
Relocating to Atlanta in 1996 after 8 years in Chicago, Charlotte is a recognized expert/keynote speaker in forestry, parks, trees, and greenspace. She managed forestry marketing statewide for the Georgia Forestry Commission; then consulting with over 300 tree groups across the U.S.; including statewide campaigns in Georgia, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, Kentucky, New Mexico, Illinois, Nevada, North Carolina, Arkansas, and Pennsylvania where her innovative “tree topping”.
As communications liaison for the National Urban & Community Forestry Advisory Council (NUCFAC), she has written advisories for the Secretary of Agriculture, a Congressional Forestry Funding Report, project manager for the Legislative Briefing following Katrina, and she has published extensive manuals, research, and articles for the forestry sector. She is also the publisher of Marketing Zone a trade publication for industry and conservation. In addition, she has worked in advertising for 3 years with the global advertising agency Publicis as an environmental subject matter expert. Board Chair, Sustainable Neighborhood Development Strategies Inc. (SNDSI). Charlotte also concepted and launched the Atlanta Emergency Preparedness Institute – a collaborative leadership initiative for the City of Atlanta/Atlanta Fire Rescue, including a town hall with EPA Commissioner Craig Fugate, recruiting more than 500+ executives including Foreign Consulates, 8 jurisdictions, 10 Colleges/Universities, numerous state/federal agencies, FBI, EPA, CDC, Forest Service and 40 corporations!
She has received numerous awards including a Proctor & Gamble community service award, a United Way 20-year award for her leadership with the VIP Program, Junior League, and other environmental awards. Charlotte is a Leadership Atlanta alum, Leadership America, the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership (IGEL), the Regional Leadership Institute, and Chic-fil-a Leadership. She has served on very large community boards including United Way of Greater Atlanta, Hands on Atlanta, and the Georgia Conservancy. She is a member of the National Congressional Page Society and has the distinction of being the first African American Female Page; she is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Sorority.
